This is one of the hardest things to turn over to a computer no matter how advanced the multivariate testing protocol. So we give you the ability to create your own site header graphic or logo.

Before we tell you how, let me assure you that custom made graphical logos and headers RARELY beat out the computer generated text based logo.

Let's understand logo and header artwork a little before you decide whether to create your own logo or header graphic.

By header graphic, I mean the crazy full page width, one inch high banners that are at the top of so many amateur sites... especially one page sales letters created by the amateur marketing crowd. They are horrendous, but so many marketers still insist on creating them and using them. They are often full of bright colors and a collage of ideas that imply success, mansions, beautiful women, health and vitality, boats, sport cars, beaches and whatever the hyped up sales letter is trying to sell.

Everyone secretly knows they are an eyesore and nobody falls for glitter and hype. Many marketers have even tested these hyped up colorful banner headers against not having anything at all at the top of their sales letter. In almost every test, nothingness has won.

But this hasn't deterred the amateur marketer who is convinced that a successful sales letter will have a "professionally" designed bright colored banner graphic. They are still commonly used.

Don't fall for this trap. The Internet Business Box supports using these hideous graphics, but they just don't work. Instead, model real professional successful sites. Here are some of the highest traffic sites on the entire Internet according to Alexa which contrary to the rumors that they are inaccurate... are quite accurate and accepted as the industry standard for estimating the relative traffic levels among the top 1,000-10,000 sites on the Internet:

Do you see any of these hideous header graphics used by the amateur marketers who claim they are essential to high conversions (while simultaneously admitting that they lose most split tests)?

No. They are completely foreign to real online businesses who make billions, millions or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue every year.

These companies commonly use rather plain logos that are placed in the upper-left corner of the website template and are almost entirely text based. In fact, the larger and more successful the company, the more likely you are to see very few or no graphical elements at all in the logo.

Pretty graphics screams that you are need attention and that you aren't yet successful. Successful companies use plain logos that are often one or two colors and comprised of text only with no graphics. Any small use of graphics is usually something very abstract such as the swoosh in the Amazon logo.

If you want a successful online business, then model the most successful companies. They don't use full width header graphics full of color and hype. They use simple small text based logos in the upper-left corner of the web-site.

Since that is the case, it is very easy for our multivariate testing software to create and test several text based logos for you to find the right size, color or colors and font face for your logo based on profitability.

That is done completely automatically for you. You don't have to do anything. This chapter is about how to create a custom logo or header though in case you are just dead set on designing your own logo or header graphic... or you have already spent a lot of time and money to establish a brand for your existing logo and would like to use it with the Internet Business System.

The rules for header graphics are simple:

1)They must be .png files.

2)They must have a white surrounding background.

3)They must be named starting with your site topic followed by the word header followed by the numbers 1-4 and then the extension.

4)They must be placed in the bin folder.

5)They should be placed in the bin folder at the start of the site. Otherwise the multivariate data will be skewed by text based logos created by the Internet Business Box software in the absence of graphical logos to test.

6)You can have up to four and the multivariate software will automatically test them and select the most profitable logo or header for you.

That's it. You can make them just about any size you wish. You can make them fill the entire width of the web-site template if you insist.

Let me give some examples for naming. Let's say your site is about horse training and you selected Horse for your site topic when you installed.

That means you can have up to four header graphics that will be tested. You would name them:

Then you upload them to the bin folder of your web-site.

That's it. You are done. The site automatically updates itself in small chunks every time someone visits your site. It may be some time before you see your graphic, but the Internet Business Box system will eventually rebuild your site to use the graphics. It will test each graphic and watch the response factors to determine which one is best.

If you have less than four graphical headers, it will fill in the missing headers with text based logos to test.

Replace the mysite.com with your domain name.

Enjoy customizing your logo if you choose to do this. Remember it is completely optional and not even recommended. The system will create a text based logo for you and test into the right colors, size and font face to use. That is our recommendation. Don't create custom logos and allow the system to find a perfect logo for your web-site by itself.
